What is The Secret to Happiness?

We tend to seek happiness outside ourselves. We think that the house, new car, more money, or a specific person will make us happy. But it’s not the outside that makes us happy.

What is The Secret to Happiness?

Do you know people who have a nice house, luxury cars, family, health and all the money they need but they’re still unhappy? And do you know people with all that stuff who are happy?

Yes, of course, you do.

Do you know people who don’t have anything of these and they’re unhappy? And do you know people who have even less than that, but they are happy?

Yes, we all know all these people… so, is it then possible that things outside of us make us happy or unhappy?

Although we may feel happy about new shoes, a new car or a new job, they are not responsible for our happiness.

Things that are outside of us can temporarily fulfill our needs and desires, but real happiness doesn’t come from external events or people, it comes from within.

Half-half perceptionSome say that happiness is the state of mind. The way we choose to look at life – our perception of the world – is what makes us happy or less happy.

Some of you will now say – Get real! You must be realistic. But, I’ll tell you something – Reality doesn’t exist as such, we create our own experiences and consequently, our own reality. Reality is not what it is, it is what we perceive and what we make of it.

I would go even further and say that happiness is the state of being. It is about being true to yourself and not living a life that is expected of you to live. It is about doing what you love and being who you really are.

Being happy is about feeling a deep sense of peace or joy in your heart even when external events are not going your way and knowing that everything is as it should be.

The secret to happiness is simple: find out what you truly love to do and then direct all of your energy towards doing it. Once you do this, abundance flows into your life and all your desires are filled with ease and grace.  – Robin Sharma

Happiness is Found in Little Things

Many of you’ve probably heard the phrase “happiness is found in little things”.

Yes, really, happiness can be found in little things that surround us, but the real question is what does it really mean?

Some people think that the meaning of that phrase is in accepting that you don’t have everything you want and trying to be satisfied with what you have. This way you can avoid disappointment, but this is not the path to happiness.

Little everyday things are here to put us into the right vibration. If you could enjoy in ordinary things such as nature, a kind word, warm blanket, sunny day, tasty breakfast, dinner with friends and family or simple things that you love doing, and if you could feel grateful at the same time, you would start feeling better and better. And more you feel grateful, the more reasons for gratefulness you will have.

Once you become aware that happiness comes from within and that you don’t need all those “big things” to make you happy, you will change your energy.

When you change your energy, it’s possible that all those things that you wanted, start coming into your life but you won’t need them anymore. It doesn’t mean that you won’t want them, it’s just that you won’t need them for happiness.

Happiness is The Ultimate Goal

happinessWe all have wishes and desires, but what we truly want is to be happy. Every wish or desire exists because we think it will bring us happiness. So, we can say that the ultimate goal behind every wish or desire is our happiness.

When we become aware that happiness comes from within, we will manage to be happy regardless of other people and circumstances.

And when you become aware that happiness is not measured by what you have, but who you are, you will find the secret to happiness.

  1. Hi Blanka, thank you for this article. I totally agree that happiness is found in little things and you can have all the material possessions and money in the world but ultimately that will not make you happy. It is really a state of mind. You choose to be happy no matter what your circumstance. Some of the happiest people I know are the ones who have the least.

  2. Hi Blanka, I was so happy to see your story and your site. This is close to what I do. Encourage and lift up others. You are so right about happy. It is in the small things and it is inside us. Happiness is a choice. Great article. thank you.

    1. Hi Laura,

  3. Hi Blanka, this is a great article, thanks for sharing! I also believe that happiness comes from within and that is a feeling of peace inside. I feel happiness from the little things in life (which are actually the big things), like spending quality time with the people I love. Material things can satisfy you instantly, but that happiness is conditional.
Again, thanks for sharing, it was really good to read!
